Seriously, I loved every aspect of this book. Neither has to give up their life to be with the other, they remain true to themselves – and this is something that there is a dire lack of in YA. I liked the resolution of their romance and how the author avoided all the typical YA cliches. Lira and Elian have such brilliant chemistry together and they both have such fiery personalities that every exchange was entertaining. It felt almost disappointing that I knew going into this that ultimately they wouldn’t kill each other because they’d fall in love, but actually it was done in such a believable way that it didn’t even ruin it for me. The premise of this was that Lira needed to kill Elian to win her place back in her world and in her mothers favour, and Elian was out to kill Lira to finally end the murderous rein of The Prince’s Bain. The one reservation I had over this was the almost predictable romance that was going to occur between Lira and Elian. Every character was unique and memorable, and they had such great chemistry together – not only Lira and Elian but the wonderful banter between Elian’s crew too. And then we have Elian as our Prince-turned-pirate. Her mother, the Sea Queen, is our Ursula and she is power and evil personified. Lira is our villainous Mermaid, or ‘Siren’ as they’re called here. The fact that this sounded like it was going to be a sort of evil Little Mermaid retelling had my interest piqued straightaway, and it did not disappoint. I would highly recommend this to all the YA fantasy fans out there, those who crave for hate-to-love romances and those who enjoy a coating of darkness to the regular siren stories. I was impressed with the quality of the author's debut novel and would definitely pick up any more books she writes in the future. It works great as a standalone novel and packs so much fabulous world-building, action and excellent character interactions. Overall, I was extremely pleased with all of the aspects of this book. The climax was extremely intense and satisfying in every way for me. Another thing that really stood out for me was the sarcastic, cut-like-knives humour that made the dialogue so much fun to read and the character dynamics was also greatly improved because of the banter. The story managed to strike the perfect balance between introducing the world and moving the plot forward with some intense action. What made the book a unique read for me was how unapologetic the characters were and the dark undercurrent to the plot. The Sea Queen, who is Lira's mother and the main antagonist, was absolutely terrifying to read about and I liked that the reader could understand why her ruthlessness was necessary. Also, the other characters were developed really well too, although I wish we'd seen more of Elian's main crew because I liked their personalities a lot. There is so much believable conflict and angst that hinders their relationship that I found very refreshing to read. I don't particularly like romance in books, but in this one I was shipping the main couple with all of my heart. However, they did grow on me and I absolutely loved Lira and Elian by the end. As I'm the sort of reader to whom character development is more important than the plot, I was initially unsure because both the perspectives weren't instant favourites. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good.īut can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind's greatest enemy? When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she's more than what she appears. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavoury hobby - it's his calling. The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian's heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most - a human. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. Dark and romantic YA fantasy for fans of Sarah J Maas - about the siren with a taste for royal blood and the prince who has sworn to destroy her

If you want to earn the Bastion skin for yourself, you just need to win 9 games across Arcade, Quick Play and ranked. Seeing a brick version of Hammond in full flight - the real life version looks outstanding - would be amazing as well, with all the bricks spilling out when its piledriver lands. I’d totally go after a LEGO themed Mei or Symmetra. LEGO has done plenty of tie-ins with Overwatch before, and full LEGO skins of the whole Overwatch cast would be one hell of an anniversary event. The effect isn’t as pronounced in much more open spaces, and it’s certainly thematic (particularly the effect in Recon mode). The projectiles look neat in isolation, but the flash taking up almost a quarter of the screen is a massive problem when you’re trying to track targets at distance. The end result of that, as pointed out by Kolorblind, an Overwatch streamer and Bastion main, is that the flash takes up an inordinate amount of space on the screen. To keep everything thematically appropriate, Blizzard has customised Bastion’s muzzle flash to be more in line with a LEGO character. It’s super adorable, and the character even spits out little bricks on the ground in turret mode. Even Bastion’s bird companion Ganymede has gotten a LEGO transformation. The Overwatch Brick challenge has plenty of goals for people, but there’s only one that really matters: the insanely good looking LEGO legendary skin. It looks amazing, until you try and actually use it. This week Overwatch fans are enjoying one of the cooler in-game challenges: the ability to unlock a blue-and-yellow, LEGO themed, Bastion skin. Still, Olivier's actress was really spot on. I think they could have removed it, and still made the film work. As much as I liked that arc in the manga, it didn't work here. I think cutting out the Briggs stuff entirely would have benefitted them. My main complaint was how long this film was. The CGI was definitely not great, but I was able to look past it. Overall, I think these films do a better job at adapting Hohenheim's funnier/softer side than the anime does, but that's just me. Also, his voice acting for Father as a blob was really enjoyable! I was also happy they included Hohenheim's "vintage armor" line, as the anime didn't. I was always bummed that hadn't made it into the anime, so I'm glad this film included it. Uchino as Hohenheim is by far my favorite part of the film, and seeing his ending scene with Trisha was really sweet. No live action adaptation of an anime is ever going to be good, especially when they're working with 27 volumes. This movie is by no means perfect, but I still had a lot of fun watching it. Perhaps if you view this as like a fanmade trilogy with more budget in it then you might have a better time. Overall not really something I'd recommend for a live action show but well some people clearly like it so who am I to say what other people will like or not but this review isn't it. It looks worn in for the most part and they tried to really replicate what the anime characters were wearing so that was nice. They sorta fixed it next installment but.eh Costumes were I think the better part of the film. First film Yamada (Edward) dyed his hair and it was really a trashy job people thought it was a wig. Wigs were bad and you can tell they're wigs. You can tell they poured their heart out in making Alphonse look good because he actually is able to blend in with the environment, perhaps some of the alchemy effects as well are good but the rest. I know people can tell it's CGI because normally it's quite impossible for it to be done irl since it's clearly not animatronic nor practical but see they also didn't do the CGI any justice. The bad effects are too noticeable especially in the first and third film. I have watched a lot of Japanese shows that do it this way so to me I'm used to it but I am aware it can be so cringy because it takes you out of the moment. The slapstick comedic timing, exaggerated reactions etc. you know how in anime they react dramatically? That's in here. Acting: Mostly miss if you're not used to the styling. I am wondering if someone who hasn't seen the source material can really bond and understand the nuances of the characters. They just took what they thought were good memorable points then threw it in the pot with no seasoning. So much of the plot points and what made FMA great wasn't present in these movies because they had to cut off so many. Revenge of Scar is probably the best if I were to choose? Likely because there's not a lot of plot points that busy themselves in the story telling. well it really didn't live up to any sort of good expectations for it. FMA anime/manga is one of my favorites, I just finished the trilogy live action just to see it and. Be sure to clear the room pack by pack and be careful of The Curator's abilities. This boss needs to be defeated as the crystal spawns underneath wherever he is defeated. Just go up the stairs and clear everything until you reach The Curator's room. The fifth and final crystal is located where you defeat The Curator.Clear the room, walk around the webs as there is a clear path, interact with the crystal and use the portal which will take you to the entrance of the dungeon. It's important to note that the tank should never face any of the spiders towards the group, as they do a frontal-cone attack that might result in less-defensive classes dying. Continue going forward, killing mobs on the way until you reach the room with a portal at the end. The two routes that you could take are to the right of the dining room, through the kitchen, clearing some mobs and jumping down over the railing, or going through the left side, killing off a few mobs and going down the stairs to the right toward the stables, but turning left instead of going to Midnight and Attunemen. The fourth crystal is located underneath the dining room, in the spider cellar. Remember to first kill off the adds (and CC if necessary) and then defeat Moroes, in order to take a safer route and not risk wiping and losing the buffs. The best path to take upon exiting the hallway from the Maiden of Virtue would be to hug the wall to the right and jump over the railing into the dining room.

The construction of the power station used some leading edge technology for the beginning of the 20th century, and an article in the 20th October 1906 edition of the Kentish Independent described the power station: The two chimneys of the second stage, shown to the right of the above photo were originally constructed to the same design, but were soon shortened due to complaints by the Royal Greenwich Observatory. The two chimneys in my fathers photo, and to the left in the above photo date from the first stage of the power station which was opened in 1906. The main difference between the two photos is the build of the chimneys. The entrance gates, entrance and clock tower, with the power station in the background.Ī slightly wider view showing all four chimneys. On a fine day last Autumn, i was on my way to the Cutty Sark pub, remembered that my father had taken a photo of the hospital and power station chimneys, but did not have a copy of the original photo with me, so took a couple of comparison photos in landscape rather than portrait, but hopefully they show what has changed, and what has not in the past 70 years. One enormous building generating electricity from coal for the tram network of London, the other much smaller building providing accommodation for the poor of Greenwich. The photo also shows two buildings with very different form and function. I suspect his thinking in composing the above photo was to show the contrast between what was at the time the almost 350 year old hospital and the relatively recent power station that then dominated the area. In 1951 my father took the following photo of the river facing entrance and clock tower of the hospital, with the chimneys of the adjacent power station behind. Trinity Hospital Greenwich can be found facing the River Thames, roughly half way between two pubs, the Trafalgar Tavern and the Cutty Sark. |
